After years of yearning to be in full-time international missions, many short-term missions trips and loads of prayer; God called our family to South Sudan in 2013. It was a moment I will never forget as I stepped of a small plane in South Sudan I clearly heard the Lord say, “This is it.” After planning, preparing & fundraising for several months war broke out again in South Sudan and all that we had believed we were to do came to an abrupt halt. We were saddened but continued to move forward. In February 2014 we began selling every material thing we had and began researching places that our ‘entire’ family could get training and preparation before heading into full-time missions. We didn’t know where we were going but we knew that God had said GO! September 2014 we traveled with 8 children, a service dog + a few pieces of luggage to Kona Hawaii where we attended a Trailblazers DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth With A Mission.) Two weeks in to the lecture phase of our training through an amazing speaker God said, “If you can’t go where I’ve called you, get as close as you can” We searched the map for the closest YWAM base to South Sudan and found Arua, Uganda. After our lecture phase we headed to Uganda to complete a 12-week outreach with our team finally ending our outreach in Arua on Feb. 1^st 2015. It was one of the hardest, craziest, coolest things we had every done as a family. God grew each of during that time and prepared us to live life in a new culture where we would fall in love with the beautiful people. Today, because of the unrest in South Sudan, God has literally brought South Sudan to us in Northern Uganda. Ministering to the people of Northern Uganda & refugees of South Sudan is an honor & we know that God has brought us here for such a time. We pray that everything we do will bring Him GLORY!
