2017 has been busy! We began receiving YWAM outreach teams from all over the world just as the new year began. Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, Hawaii, California, Norway all came at different times and stayed in our newly completed dorm + our ARUA outreach teams headed out into remote places of Northern Uganda and South Sudan. They did refugee ministry, children’s ministry, prison ministry, door-to-door evangelism, open air preaching, + showed the jesus film and more. They witnessed physical and emotional healing, hosted mini DTS camps with Muslim Youth & saw the lives of many transformed. The students stories have been amazing and hundreds of people have given their lives to Jesus. It has been a good 2 months!
In January, YWAM Arua hosted “GO CAMP.” This is a ‘mini’ DTS that is run during the school holiday for Youth. There were 28 students including 6 deaf students. They had a week long lecture phase followed by a week and a half outreach phase in a village. Tate attended and had a wonderful time and grew in the Lord so much. It is so amazing to see the Youth hungry for the word of God and even more exciting to see them taking what they have learned and sharing the gospel with others.
The new school year in Uganda began Feb. 8th and Levi was SO ready to get back to school. It’s his favorite. Our special needs teacher, Bree, joined us the end of January and she has been a huge blessing. She teaches Charlie in the mornings and then is helping to pilot the special education class at Levi’s school in the afternoons. There are 4 students including Levi and soon Charlie will begin joining them in the afternoons.
Sid has continued in helping to oversee the construction on the YWAM base. As the concrete steps were drying on the Big Dorm we literally received the first team. It has been such a great blessing to have accommodations for teams and Sid has done a great job helping pull it all together and have it ready in time for teams.
Wendy & her sidekick Megan were finally able to get all the documents needed for their Ugandan Nursing License. It was not an easy task, but they are official now. They will begin volunteering with MTI (Medical Teams International) in the refugee camp clinics.
We are gearing up this month to receive a team of 12 coming from our home church Stonegate Fellowship. They are hosting a retreat called “Renew Uganda” for many of the missionary women who serve in Northern Uganda & South Sudan + a VBS for their children. It is going to be a wonderful time and we are looking forward to a weekend of being refueled and renewed.
As far as an adoption update… We pray we know something this week. You can be specifically praying that the Probation Officer in the area where our children are will process and approve our fostering to adopt documents. Once she does that we can meet the children, their investigation will be done and we can begin fostering them. We are ready but are trusting in God’s perfect timing.
We Love and miss you all and are grateful for your continued love and support as we live life across the world. May everything we do and say bring glory to God.
For Him,
Sid, Wendy + the Tribe
