**The Reception Center at the refugee camp where refugees arrive daily.**
Greetings from Uganda!
We can’t believe that 2016 is soon coming to and end. The past 3 months have flown by and we are just now getting a newsletter out. So many amazing and difficult things have happened, and we praise God for all of them!
Here’s a recap:
September was filled with beginning a new homeschool year, time in the refuge camp, new puppies, beginning Swahili lessons, welcoming YWAM staff and families that have evacuated out of South Sudan, a visit from a team of 4 from our church Stonegate Fellowship in Midland, TX and the beginning of our YWAM DTS (Discipleship Training School) with 25 students from 7 different countries. This is largest class ever on this YWAM base!
October brought fun with DTS students, leading worship, special education workshop at local school, and a women’s team from Stonegate Fellowship. The team helped to created a first ever Library at a local Uganda school (Levi’s school), spent time ministering in the refugee camp, the women’s prison & hosted a conference for 25 beautiful women where one precious lady gave her life to the Lord and 4 more the following week. Our children continue to amaze us and we’ve seen God working throught them. Levi found a sweet special needs girl sitting alone and sat and talked to her and even tried to put her in his lap (she was bigger than him) It was so precious to see his heart and to watch him be drawn to the one that needed interaction the most. We can learn SO much from him.
November was full as we sent the team off and began preparing for the incoming YWAM outreach teams that begin arriving in Dec. We were honored to host missionaries in our home that had evacuated out of South Sudan and play a small part in helping their ministry evacuate 70+ orphans out of South Sudan. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving complete with chicken strips, mash potatoes, greenbeans, corn and homemade rolls made by Baylie.
Sid has continued to help oversee the completion of the construction around the YWAM base & helping administratively in the YWAM office. We are excited about having the space to accomodate multiple outreach teams and other visitors. Look for completions pictures in the next newsletter.
Adoption Update: We are still in the “Waiting” for a referral stage. Because of the new Child Act that Uganda passed in June, there have been lots of changes. We believe God knows just the two little ones he has for our family & we trust His timing. We continue to fundraise and believe that God will provide. Merry Christmas to All of you and thank you for continuing to pray for our family as we serve in Northern Uganda.
